Tim Teven Studio

Tim Teven, a Dutch designer, graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2018. His technical and material-oriented approach to design, together with a hands-on way of working, allows him to play and create in an experimental way. In many of his works, the production process is used as a tool to design and is a leading element that shapes the final form and function of the object. The unconventional treatment of materials to rethink the manufacturing process allows him to find surprising techniques that can then be translated into a functional yet interesting object. Teven works from his design studio, founded in Eindhoven in 2018, where all objects are handmade with industrial craftsmanship.

In the Pressure Series, Tim Teven uses material deformation under extreme pressure as a creative design element. This process, in which metal is worked through the application of pressure, not only leads to fascinating technical details, but also enriches the objects with new visual and tactile properties.

The vases in this collection are made from open steel tubes that are subjected to enormous pressure of up to 45 metric tons. This intensive treatment causes the tubes to deform and form attractive folds. This transformation gives the otherwise hard and cool material a soft and appealing appearance. A fascinating design object that is ideal for use as a vase.
