In 1935, he bought a building on Limmatquai and opened the \"Café Select\", Zurich's first boulevard café. The Select, which was frequented by Rudolf Lehni junior, quickly became a meeting place for Zurich's avant-garde. In 1935, Boesiger also designed the Folding Table for the café. It consists of a table frame made of black powder-coated flat steel and a tabletop made of black linoleum with glued hardwood edges.
