It is one of many progressive projects Poul Henningsen developed alongside his famous three-shade system from 1926. Henningsen dedicated much of his life to mastering electric light. His three-shade design is based on a lituus curve, allowing the light source to be used with maximum efficiency. Throughout his work, he conducted continuous calculations and experiments — the shape of each shade was determined by how it should direct and reflect light.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor Henningsen, glare-free illumination was essential. The first PH table lamp was completed in early 1927 and introduced as an alternative to low-hanging pendant lights.
