Chairs and armchairs cover everything from dining and desk chairs to lounge chairs for reading. For dining, a seat height of about 45 to 47 cm suits a standard table of 72 to 75 cm, leaving roughly 27 to 30 cm of space for the legs; lounge chairs sit lower and deeper. Also check whether a chair stacks, whether the seat is upholstered and whether the frame is suitable for outdoor use.
Leading brands include HAY with designs by Hee Welling, Julien Renault and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Frama, OBJEKTE UNSERER TAGE, Hem, Objekto with the Paulistano armchair by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, and Richard Lampert.
