Aldebaran is a vase in Murano glass, designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1983 and named after a star, like several of the Memphis glass pieces. It is wider than it is tall, 29 cm across and 17 cm high, with a heavy clear base and a wall of clear glass.
Looped green glass handles rise from the rim, and thin orange threads run down the side. The glass is made by hand with traditional Murano techniques, so each piece differs slightly in form, thickness and colour. Memphis counts such differences as part of its artisanal production.
