This cushion carries the Rete pattern, designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1983. Rete is the Italian word for net. A lattice of black diamonds is drawn over a cream ground, a quiet, graphic pattern that works as a surface rather than as a picture.
The cover is 100% cotton with the decoration screen printed, and it can be removed. The cushion is a plain square, so the pattern is the whole design. Small variations in the print belong to the way it is made.
