Altair is a vase in Murano glass, designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1982 and named after a star in the constellation Aquila. The rounded body is turquoise, with a clear glass handle, a yellow flared mouth, a small red loop at the side and a yellow foot. The vase is 44 cm high.
It is made by hand with traditional Murano techniques, so form and colour differ slightly from piece to piece. Memphis counts such differences as part of its artisanal production. Memphis describes each of its pieces as the result of long handwork, in which the craftsmen handle every surface many times as it is made.
