Arizona is a rug designed by Nathalie Du Pasquier in 1983. Du Pasquier, known for her patterns, designed several rugs for the collection that year, among them Arizona, California and Riviera.
It is made of 100% Tibetan wool, knotted by hand on a traditional loom, and measures 250 × 180 cm. Knotting by hand means that size, colour and pile can vary slightly from one rug to the next, a difference Memphis regards as part of artisanal production.
For Memphis, function became one quality among several: every piece was meant to carry symbolic, poetic or emotional meaning as well.
