Bombay is a tall side table designed by Nathalie Du Pasquier in 1986. It is round, 40 cm in diameter, and 100 cm high, so it stands closer to a plant stand or a small pedestal than to a table beside a sofa.
The legs are lacquered wood and the top is covered with decorative laminate. The finish is applied by hand in Italy, and small differences in colour and surface from piece to piece are part of the process.
For Memphis, function became one quality among several: every piece was meant to carry symbolic, poetic or emotional meaning as well.
