Cucumber is a vase designed by Martine Bedin in 1985. It is one of several Memphis ceramics from that year named after vegetables. The body is a flattened disc with a yellow rim, set on a dark round foot, and the white surface carries blue curved strokes.
The vase is made of hand painted ceramic, with decorative decals sublimated in the kiln. Because the work is done by hand, colour and line vary slightly from one piece to the next. Memphis counts such differences as part of its artisanal production.
