Freemont is a cabinet designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1985. At 190 cm wide, 60 cm deep and 183 cm high it is a large piece, closer to a wall of furniture than to a sideboard.
The carcass is covered with wood veneer and decorative laminate and gilded with gold leaf. Veneer, laminate and gold leaf are applied by hand, so the surfaces vary slightly from piece to piece in colour and structure, which Memphis counts as part of its artisanal production.
In its 2025 catalogue, Back to New, Memphis Milano returns to the collections of 1981 to 1986 and presents their pieces afresh.
