Gritti is a bookcase designed by Andrea Branzi in 1981. Branzi was one of the architects and designers who contributed to Memphis over the years, and Gritti dates from the first year of the group. Its width is given as a range of 340 to 380 cm, at a depth of 30 cm and a height of 204 cm.
The structure is wood covered with decorative laminate and wood veneer, combined with metal elements and shelves of tempered glass. The shelves let light pass through, so the piece reads as a framework rather than a closed block. Surfaces are finished by hand in Italy, and small differences in colour and surface between pieces are part of the process.
