Onion is a fruit bowl designed by Nathalie Du Pasquier in 1985, one of the Memphis ceramics from that year named after vegetables. The shallow bowl has a softly lobed outline and a deep blue body, with a band of yellow and pink spots above black and white stripes.
It is made of hand painted ceramic, with decorative decals sublimated in the kiln. As each piece is finished by hand, colour and pattern vary slightly. Memphis counts such differences as part of its artisanal production.
