Palace is a chair designed by George J. Sowden in 1983. Sowden was a member of the circle around Ettore Sottsass in Milan and designed several pieces for Memphis. The chair is 49 cm wide, 45 cm deep and 95 cm high.
It is made entirely of lacquered wood, without upholstery, so the colour of the lacquer is the main surface. The lacquer is applied by hand in Italy, and small differences in colour and surface from one chair to the next are part of the process.
The founding group itself lasted only a short time, but its pieces remain part of the Memphis Milano catalogue today.
