Pierre Dining Table

Pierre is a table designed by George J. Sowden in 1981. Its effect comes from two contrasting geometric patterns: the square legs are lacquered in stripes of red, yellow and blue, while the top carries a black and white zigzag. Sowden also drew a version with the leg blocks in black and white. The table is a 150 cm square, 72 cm high.

The version with colour stripes is made of lacquered wood elements covered with decorative laminate, mounted on a metal frame. The black and white version has lacquered wood legs and a top covered with decorative laminate, without the metal frame; its construction differs from the colour version. Lacquer and laminate are finished by hand in Italy, and small differences in colour and surface between pieces are part of the process.
