Rigel is a vase in Murano glass, designed by Marco Zanini in 1982 and named after a star in Orion. A round blue body carries red knobs and a red cap, a green cone points out at the side, and a clear stem rises from a dark foot. The vase is 35 cm high.
It is made by hand with traditional Murano techniques, so form and colour differ slightly from piece to piece. Memphis counts such differences as part of its artisanal production. Memphis describes each of its pieces as the result of long handwork, in which the craftsmen handle every surface many times as it is made.
