Sirio is a vase in Murano glass, designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1982. The name is the Italian form of Sirius, the star. A tall red conical vessel with two wavy red handles stands on a stack of yellow and blue discs and a black conical foot. The vase is 35 cm high.
It is made by hand with traditional Murano techniques, so form and colour differ slightly from piece to piece. Memphis counts such differences as part of its artisanal production. Memphis describes each of its pieces as the result of long handwork, in which the craftsmen handle every surface many times as it is made.
