Suvretta is a bookcase designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1981, the year Memphis was founded and showed its first collection in Milan. It is 204 cm wide and 200 cm high, but only 35 cm deep, so it works as a long wall of shelving.
The body is wood covered with decorative laminate, the surface Memphis used for colour and pattern. Memphis relies on Italian craftsmen, and small differences in colour and surface from one piece to the next are part of the way the pieces are made.
Memphis describes each piece as the result of long handwork that starts again with every project.
