Tomato is a serving platter designed by Michele De Lucchi in 1985, the same year and by the same hand as the Celery platter. De Lucchi belonged to the circle around Ettore Sottsass that founded Memphis in Milan.
It is made of ceramic, painted by hand and decorated with decals fixed in the kiln, and it measures 35 × 28 cm. As the colour is applied by hand in Italian workshops, tone and surface vary a little between pieces, a difference Memphis treats as part of artisanal production.
