543 Broadway Chair 9 Legs

The 543 Broadway chair belongs to a small series by Gaetano Pesce that also includes a four-leg chair, a stool and a table. This version stands on nine legs, all part of a thin metal frame, and each foot ends in a large spring. The chair gives a little when someone sits down and can be rocked back and forth. It is the first edition of the collection made by Meritalia, in collaboration with Pesce's own workshop.

Seat and backrest are cast in epoxy resin. The colours are left to mix by themselves in the mould, so every piece looks different, and the resin is clear enough to show the frame behind it. The chair is a limited edition of 66 pieces and comes in yellow and red or in blue and green. As the pieces are made with artisanal techniques, shape and colour can differ from the photographs, and the resin may change colour slightly over time.
